YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION TYPE IS
The Nurturer
Spoken communication: Low
Unspoken communication: Mid‑range
The 2 measures of our first impression are:
Spoken communication (low—high): Tone of voice, speed of delivery, and quantity and depth of conversation.
Unspoken communication (closed—open): Dress, posture, and body language (hand gestures, smile, eyebrows, eye contact).
Your first impression score is low for spoken communication and in the middle for unspoken communication. People feel like they can say anything to you and they always feel better in your company. Your conversation is attentive, warm and inviting.
Benefits of this approach: you have a genuine care for others and this comes through in your body language and spoken communication. You put people at ease- they want to talk to you for hours! Your nurturing style appeals to everyone in a group, though you may prefer people who avoid small talk. You may occasionally feel like a therapist, with people confiding in you on first meeting.
Challenges of this approach: as your communication style is innately nurturing, other people are drawn to you and may take advantage of your caring nature. They may talk over you or talk at you, without regard for your experience of connection. Find ways to communicate your boundaries to others. It’s important for you to keep track of where you end and someone else begins. Your empathy is not someone else’s right or property- it is yours to give, when you choose. Your mastery of boundaries could be the deciding factor in whether you enjoy or avoid human connection.

What now?
Your first impression is just the tip of the iceberg! It’s also a good indicator of the way you connect with other people. In the AlityConnect assessment we’ve found that Nurturers usually have an Ocean connection type. Ocean types are magnetic and alluring, but too much human interaction will leave them feeling burned out.
